CVS for configuration files, web pages, etc

I just started using CVS to keep track of the changes I make to various configuration files and the templates for this blog etc. Hopefully i got the discipline to keep using it and hopefully it will make it easier for me to remember what I changed when.
Btw, for this little purpose it actually seems quite easy to use :-)

XHTML Validation

Finally got the W3C MarkUp Validation Service to tell me that “This Page Is Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional!”, which it wasn’t before mainly cause of problems with ampersands in the RSS feed links from ESA.
Thanks to the Regexp Plugin it’s working now :-) and the Plugin opens quite some other possibilities.

Installing pine on Debian

Before I forget it again… To install pine from the Debian sources just do the following:
# apt-get --only-source build-dep pine
# apt-get --only-source -b source pine
# dpkg -i <packagefile>
You need to have the matching deb-src lines in /etc/apt/sources.list.
The first command will install the the dependencies needed to build, the second will get the sources and build a the package file in /usr/src/ which can be installed with the last one then.
To choose from stable/testing/unstable just add -t stable/testing/unstable to the apt-get lines.
An easy way to keep the latest version, is to install the pine-tracker package.
